Field of Study: Political Theory Development of political ideas from the Golden Age of Greece until the French Revolution. Relevance of theory to a critical understanding of concrete political and social problems involving power, freedom, equality, justice and action. Stresses major political theorists such as Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau.
