Survey of Western art music from the American Revolution to the present, examining genres, styles, and practices within their historical, cultural, sociopolitical, technological, and aesthetic contexts. Emphasis on music historiography and the interpretation of primary sources. Course Note Not open to students who have completed MUSIC 308B and MUSIC 308DW
